چکیده

Lot of research in the field of human recognition is being carried out. Gait recognition is a relatively new approach which is gaining momentum in biometrics. We have demonstrated a simple approach as a solution to this problem. We have taken a feature which was proposed earlier i. e. the Silhouette Vector. This is the distance of boundary points from the centroid of the silhouette as it rotates 360 degrees. Additional to the silhouette vector, we divided the silhouette image into three equal parts vertically (Rectangular Features) and computed some statistical properties of these parts. These properties were also added to the silhouette vector and given to the PCA training system. Training was performed using silhouette vectors and

Silhouette Analysis-Based Gait Recognition for Human Identification

Human identification at a distance has recently gained growing interest from computer vision researchers. Gait recognition aims essentially to address this problem by identifying people based on the way they walk. In this paper, a simple but efficient gait recognition algorithm using spatial-temporal silhouette analysis is proposed. For each image sequence, a background subtraction algorithm an...

Person Identification using Gait by Combined Features of Width and Shape of the Binary Silhouette

Current image-based individual human recognition methods, such as fingerprints, face, or iris biometric modalities generally require a cooperative subject, views from certain aspects, and physical contact or close proximity. These methods cannot reliably recognize non-cooperating individuals at a distance in the real world under changing environmental conditions. Gait, which concerns recognizin...

Recognition Human by Gait using PCA, DTW

With the increasing demand of visual surveillance systems, human recognition at a distance has gained extensive research interest. Gait is a potential behavioral feature to identify humans based on their motion. This paper describes a new scheme for extracting and selecting features from the gait of a human for recognition. The scheme combines two methods: principal component analysis (PCA) and...

A New Approach for Human Identification Using Gait Recognition

Recognition of a person from gait is a biometric of increasing interest. This paper presents a new approach on silhouette representation to extract gait patterns for human recognition. Silhouette shape of a motion object is first represented by four 1-D signals which are the basic image features called the distance vectors. The distance vectors are differences between the bounding box and silho...

Uniprojective Features for Gait Recognition

Recent studies have shown that shape cues should dominate gait recognition. This motivates us to perform gait recognition through shape features in 2D human silhouettes. In this paper, we propose six simple projective features to describe human gait and compare eight kinds of projective features to figure out which projective directions are important to walker recognition. First, we normalize e...
